The National Association of Music Merchants is holding their annual convention at The Anaheim Convention Center January 24-27. NAMM is THE premier annual music-industry trade show with merchants and musicians descending on Anaheim from around the world to display and experience the newest in music-related gadgets and gear. While the show isn’t open to the general public, it does bring to town many as 95,000 attendee’s from 90+ countries to town to enjoy 1,400 exhibitors in almost a half-million square-feet of convention space. That’s a lot of people. Needless to say, Anaheim gets quite busy.
In addition to the great new products and technology on display, NAMM hosts free professional development sessions, great, often famous speakers and exclusive performances only available to conventioneers. This year Sir Elton John will be performing at The Hyperion Theatre in Disney’s California Adventure…The very definition of a “hot ticket”.
Those of us in Anaheim look forward to these few days of craziness…But if you’re planning on visiting Disneyland during this time-period, prepare for high-prices on hotels(if you can find one-we usually sell-out many months in advance), packed restaurants, long waits for taxi’s and the traffic that comes with suddenly having 95,000 folks in town. It’s a lot of people, but it’s a blast.
