My favorite trip to Disneyland has to be the year that Indiana Jones opened. Our two daughters were so excited to go ride the newest ride at DL. We had purchased the light up tennis shoes so they would be stylish at the park. I played Disney music at a month before the trip to get everyone excited for the trip. We left before the sun rose that morning. We arrived and immediately headed to the park. It was a rainy day and we bought our rain ponchos and decided to make the best of the weather. The line was long and our youngest was not sure if she could ride due to the height restriction. Since the rain poncho was long on her, she stood on her toes so she would be tall enough. She had a grin from ear to ear when they told she was tall enough! We didn’t know she had stood on her tip toes to make it. As we proceeded through the line, our daughters had fun reading all of the secret message codes on the wall using the deciphering card that was given to us. The ride was amazing. The look on their faces was priceless. Our daughters are now 26 and almost 29 now. We would love to return to relive that excitement.

Growing up in a family with five children, my parents were always trying to make ends meet. The one thing that they always managed to do was take us to disneyland once a year. We would drive down from the Central Valley to Bakersfield, stay at my grandmas, and then get up extremely early to drive the rest of the way to anaheim. While we were there, my parents tried their best to make the day as special as possible for each of us, although it was tough with so many kids. My mom always talked about how she wanted to take us to the Blue Bayou restaurant, but of course we never had money for it. My father left when I was a teenager, and for about 3 years, we didn’t go to disneyland. My mom, who had never really worked, and gotten her real estate license, and found a good job. Unknown to my siblings and I, my mom had been putting away money to take us to disneyland, and one day she surprised us, and said we were going! It was only my younger brother, sister and I, but we had the best time, and when it came around for dinner time, my mom have us the biggest surprise and took us to the Blue Bayou restaurant. I was a young adult at this point, and because of that I realized how much it meant to my mom that she was able to do something so special for us on her own. It was the best trip to disneyland that I ever had, and I would love to take her back to show her how much I appreciated everything she went through, and how she always tried to make our trips so special!
