Around and about the Disneyland Resort in May

Disney fans are eagerly awaiting summer, a time when the Disney magic in the works for months will finally be revealed. Starting June 15, Disney will reopen attractions undergoing renovations and unveil brand new attractions and stores.

This month at Disneyland

Those visiting Disneyland during the month of May, prior to all the June excitement can enjoy all that Disney has to offer with a couple of Disney celebrations.

  Disneyland will be reopening its Candy Palace and Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor May 2, to satisfy guests with a sweet craving.

The adjacent Downtown Disney will host a Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 5, with food, festivities and fun! Tortilla Jo’s will offer a special three-course menu for only $27.

Starting May 25, a new summertime version of “The Magic, The Memories and You!” will project onto It’s a small world at Disneyland. “The Magic, The Memories and You!” will transform the classic attraction into a flashy, colorful compilation of Disney park memories.

Following a six month long renovation, Disneyland’s Matterhorn Bobsleds will reopen to feature brand new single rider bobsleds, with three separate seats for cars. With newly repainted exterior and interior and repaired rocks, as well as brand new gates and queue area, the Matterhorn will once again welcome guests on June 14.

Meanwhile at Disneyland California Adventure, the much anticipated Cars Land is set to open June 15. This land features brand new attractions, as well as dining and shopping venues centered on the Disney-Pixar film, Cars. Cars Land attractions will include Radiator Springs Racers. This attraction takes guests in a six-person vehicle on a briefing of film characters, leading them to a race with another guest vehicle along steep turns and banks.

Also at Disneyland California Adventure, the rethemed Sunshine Plaza becomes Buena Vista Street, a central plaza that represents Los Angeles in the 1920s. The street will include a replica of the Carthay Circle Theater, as well as Red Car trolleys that will transport guests through this area starting June 15.

Disney guests that are coffee lovers rejoice! Starting in June for the first time ever, guests will be able to buy Starbucks drinks and pastries inside Disneyland California Adventure. The Starbucks store will be designed to fit in with the rest of the theme of Buena Vista Street and will be located near the entrance. The full Starbucks menu will be available, along with a “Mouse cookie or two,” said the Starbucks company.
